2010 will be our year!

Posted in Uncategorized

Whoever you are you are in need of a better 2010. The recession has touched each and every one of us in some way some how. Whether its our loved ones or directly, 2010 can serve to be better.

I am not a big resolution person because I feel that most forget what it is by no later than March, so I have decided to jot down everything I would like to accomplish in each quarter of 2010. I also plan to get an accountability partner to make sure it happens!

Unique Wedding Favors in a Jar

Posted in Uncategorized

I am all for edible favors as gifts.  Chances are high that your guests will actually eat or make the ingeditents given to them from your event. During our Inspiration Stations we also encourage you to include elements for your personal lives or just doing something you enjoy (forget about it, nothing you pick everyone will like so just carry on), you never know what you will be introducing someone too.

Turquoise and Orange Inspiration

Posted in Uncategorized

We are just loving this interior design by Kendra Wilkinson. Affectionately titled Showcase Pop, this design of turquoise and mandarin orange, we can see all things modern and contemporary with all the clean lines. We also love the small accents of the Zebra chairs.  It is a great way to add texture without it being overpowering.

Loving the lucite side table.  LOVE IT!!!!!!!

OPI joins the Alice in Wonderland craze

Posted in Uncategorized

I think just about everyone has watched the movie Alice in Wonderland as a child. And if you have you cannot wait to see what Tim Burton has conjured up for the big screen in March 2010.

Not only is there a big buzz in Hollywood surrounding the movie, but Alice has made her way into every girl’s big dreams for their wedding day. In 2010 you will see the surge of Alice in Wonderland themed weddings or even bridal showers. This theme will also resume their role in birthday parties for little girls.

We were just smitten with the color palette OPI has for this movie.

Coming in January 2010, I cannot wait to see the two red colors pop in pictures from an awesome event.  Cleverly labeled Off with her Red and Thanks so Muchness, these reds will give you the dramatics you are looking for.  The other two glittery colors are definitely for the younger Alice in you can can be used for that perfect all girls tea for the seven year olds!

OMG did he propose on Christmas Day?

Posted in Uncategorized

Did your fiancé propose to you on Christmas day? Statistics show 35-40% of couples get engaged between Thanksgiving and Christmas day.

I was a Christmas day engagee. I originally thought that Jeff did not get me a gift that year.  It would have been ok with me because we were young and were not actually “splurging” all year round. But then I turned around to see my older sister with tears in her eyes and Jeff on one knee with a beautiful ring I wasn’t expecting.  Yes I was a Christmas day engagee and would not have wanted it any other way.

Ok back to your engagement. Congratulations! This my friend is the beginning of your engagement story. He has picked the right ring, bent down on his knee in front of your loved ones, and now is the time to plan your unique and chic affair.

So what should you do first? The right thing for me to tell you is to run and hire a planner but I will NOT. The best thing you can do as soon as you are engaged, is to sit back and take it all in.  Realize the man of your dreams has just proposed and you said yes. It is so easy to get so caught up in the planning that you forget what got you there, the love.

Now that you are all caught up it is now time to get down to logistics. It is funny how the 5 W’s we learned in elementary school will now come to play:

  • Why you are getting married – that’s the easy one, prince charming came in on his white horse
  • When will the big day be?
  • Where will you get married – is it in your current hometown? Where you grew up? Or on a tropical island?
  • Who will be in attendance? -  Are you looking at an intimate affair or a soiree of 250 guests?
  • What will the atmosphere be like? Will it be fun and informal or black time and swank?

No worries if this all seems like too much to answer so quickly. Really your engagement is more about the experience, one that you will always want to remember. Now I highly suggest teaming up with a wedding planner to get some of these questions answered. Don’t worry you will still be planning your affair but now with a wedding BFF that does not care that all conversations are about YOU and YOUR big day.

Ok now tell us all about it! How did it go?

PS if you are already married we still love a good love story.

Cannot believe it is Christmas Eve already!

I cannot believe it is really the holidays. Has 2009 really flown by that quickly? With so many ups and downs this year I know there is a sense of relief to start over in the new year on the right foot and with a new spirit in tow.

Whichever holiday you are celebrating this season please be safe, enjoy your loved ones, and get ready to take 2010 by storm!

This is personally my favorite holiday and although it is FREEZING here in New York, I am glad to be back here with my family and friends. In reality I cannot imagine spending the holiday without them and treat it as if it is my last. I sit back and reflect on how many times I wish I had called my mother or father in the weeks that I deem myself so busy and vow to make this time even more special than the last. I watch my son play with my nieces and nephews, ok they are not playing but rather fighting because this is how they communicate. I watch my husband do a total makeover to my mother’s home like he is on an episode of Extreme Makeover. Then my 89 year old grandmother sits back and watches all of her great grandchildren make more noise than she cares to hear. I say all of this because I do not wait until next week to think about all of the great things I have going on in my life.

As the time of the year is coming to a close so soon, I vow not to waste anymore time worrying about all of the hardships that I deem unfair and rather spend my time focusing on the accomplishments and love that I have that are priceless!

With that my friends I wish you a happy and safe holiday to you and your family. Make sure to grab some eggnog with a twist, watch a movie and tell everyone you love that you love them.

I love my husband and son, of course my family that I often think are here just to drive me insane, my local wedding support group (you know who you are), I actually have people all over the world that I speak to on an almost daily basis that I have had the privilege of meeting this year, I love you too and see you in April, my clients really bring me joy and I love that they have allowed me to share in their special moment in their lives, I also have to share my love of God that allows me on a daily basis to dream big and pave the path for me to get there!

Badgley Mischka Sandals

Posted in Uncategorized

While looking for perfect holiday shoes for various outings this year I came across these Badgley Mischka. Perfect for a night out on the town or as your wedding shoes. In fact one of my brides is wearing one of the shoes below to compliment her wedding in the Spring.

The beauty about splurging on designer shoes for one event, is that they can often be worn several times after. Not only good for your wedding day but how about wearing them again on your anniversary or your first night out on the time as husband and wife?

I have a very big birthday coming up next year and have already begun saving my shoe choices for my hubby to “surprise” me with. I will be sure to share.

What is often your splurges? Share with us a certain pair of shoes you may have your eyes on.
