ellyB Weddings: Amia and Korey

Posted in Uncategorized

Amia and Korey were married on a beautiful day this past August.  The weather was perfect for our outdoor ceremony that took place on the gardens of Villa Christina. The girls wore a beautiful lilac shade while other parts of the ceremony and reception had various hues of purple.

In Good Favor

Pick up the latest issue of Brides Atlanta to see my suggestions for favors for your upcoming wedding. All of the Atlanta Wedding Planners gave great suggestions on how to make your favors not only memorable but useful.

Favors are usually a tough one for my couples. I usually sway in the direction of giving something edible or personal to the Bride and Groom. Truth is not everyone will like what you give out, so you want to make sure you are giving something yummy, very useful, or something you would like to receive as a favor.

Centerpiece of the Week Vol. 2

Posted in Uncategorized

Today is the first day of Fall! I am so ready for the warmer temperatures and the return of turtlenecks.  As a wedding planner, the months of September, October and parts of November always seems to call for a fall theme or color scheme.

I believe that it is very important to embrace the time of year you are getting married and incorporate these elements in your surroundings, but do not get too overboard with trying to express your theme. You do need pumpkins or only the color palette or red, orange and brown to signify fall.  Incorporate plums and different color greens to signify the greenery that is changing around us.

Totally love the little open me note in this place setting.

The Best Atlanta Welcome Basket…EVER!

Posted in Uncategorized

While browsing the beautiful work of Esther Julee, I came across this post for ideas of an Atlanta wedding welcome basket.  It is a great idea for couples to do welcome baskets because it shows your guests upon arrival that they are welcomed and you are excited to share their special day with them. Majority of your out of town guests will use your wedding as an opportunity for a short getaway and do some sight seeing around town.

Your basket should include some standard items such as water, aspirin, Band-Aids, anything you can think of a hotel including but would be an up-charge, you know all of the pretty things they display on the dresser with a hefty price tag, yeah those. It should also include items that are native to your town. Here are some items Esther included in her recent wedding!

1. Map of Atlanta
2. Classic Coke bottle
3. Georgia Peach
4. Home-brewed Sweet Tea (by yours truly)
5. Varsity hat
6. Georgia Peanuts
7. Card for free Chik-fil-a Sandwhich
8. Waffle House hat (they don’t give them out like Varsity, so we went to dozens of them before we got enough)
9. Fan (since it’s hotlanta. literally.)
10. City passes to the Coke museum, GA aquarium, CNN center, and other attractions for those who were staying long enough

Decor Ideas: Sweater Vases

Posted in Uncategorized

The beauty about design is that the possibilities are ENDLESS. You can do anything your little heart desires as long as your design concept is well thought through and is cohesive.  Of course I had to share these images of these sweater vases.  Look how simple it could be! Regular vases wrapped with chunky sweaters that can be found in any home or local clothing store, try going vintage!

Head over to the Pepper Design blog for additional details and tutorials.

Escort Card Ideas: Hanging Frames

Posted in Uncategorized

When you are thinking of infusing traditional ideas such as escort cards, try and think of ways that it does not only gets the job done efficiently, but also creates a visual experience for your guests.  Guests think and react with their eyes. They will remember if they were introduced to a scene they have not seen anymore or experience something unique and chic.

This couple decided to use gold picture frames to display what table their guests will be seated at. What is so great about this is that you can use a variety of frames to achieve the overall look. You can go from vintage to modern for your display. You have an option of your different shapes and sizes. Of course you can bring it a little bit closer to home and collect frames from around your home or from your loved ones.

OhEmGee! Grey’s Anatomy Spoiler Alert

Please please please if you do not want to be have the season premiere spoiled for you, DO NOT READ THE FOLLOWING POST.

Got it?  Good.

I am a sucker for fall TV.  There are so many good shows that return or are premiered that you get a great bit of eye candy to wine down your busy day.  I was so excited to learn that there is going to be a wedding on the season premiere of Grey’s!  No it is not Derrick and Meredith.  It will be…

YES! Christina will finally have her day at the alter.  She ever wears a red dress to complete the dead!  Makes me even more excited for the season premiere on September 23rd.  Are you as excited for Grey’s, do you think Christina and Owen will actually say I DO?

Louboutin’s…I die!

Posted in Uncategorized

What more can I say about this masterpiece? Louboutin’s has definitely became a household name for wedding day shoes. What I love most about them is that you can wear them time and time again.  You are not just absorbing this expense for a one time wear, but shoes that you can wear out on a date night.

Centerpiece of the week

There is something so fun about the color combination of pink and orange florals. Although two bright colors, they compliment each other and give you that bit of punch that you may need to dress up a blah space. The small arrangements below would be great for smaller cocktail tables or used throughout your cocktail hour.

To think, the author put this together with flowers from the Farmer’s Market!
