Inspiration Station: Ice Cream Bars

Let’s face it, there is a huge population that loves ice cream just as much as they love cake! Over the past few years we have seen the emergence of gelato carts, popsicles or even an ice cream cart from ice cream giants such as Cold Stone Creamery. I love when people incorporate their favorite treats but some of the details should not be forgotten!  Of course you can keep with your color scheme but don’t forget the toppings!!!

Mason Jar Signature Drinks: Cranberry Apple Cider

Looking for an alternative for your mason jars instead of the traditional Lemonade? I just love the way the Apple Cider looks in the jars. Perfect for the for the hot summer months and definitely adds a splash of color and refreshment to your next event.

Look for recipe’s that you have enjoyed as a couple or that can coordinate with your wedding color scheme.  Add little embellishments such as cranberries or mint. Think about using custom drink stirrers with your monogram etched in the design. A great favor idea would be to use a drink menu that have ran in your family for years and pass out mini recipe cards at the end of the evening for favors.

Still a lover of mini cakes!

There is still something about mini cakes that make me excited.  I love to see them at each place setting waiting for your guests to arrive.  Another great to showcase these lovelies is by putting them in little clear boxes and adorn the dessert or favor table. It is great way to incorporate your colors or themes (as if you were doing polka dots, incorporating them as seen below).

Also perfect for your next baby or bridal shower.

Interactive Stations – The Cookie Bar

What makes any kind of interactive station ideal is that 60% of the time your guests have never seen anything like it before. Naturally when I saw this cookie bar on Project Wedding I knew I had to share with my readers.  There are so many ways to take this idea and make it your own.  Consider the following when creating your own cookie bar:

  • Get together with your family and friends and bake cookies that have been passed down for generations
  • Pick sweets that you share with your love ones, then share with your guests
  • Visit a local shop that will be able to customize a new flavor that represent your new union

If you are looking for more interactive stations, check out our posts on s’mores, popcorn and even cupcakes!

ellyB Press: Bride and Bloom Spring 2010

Before Spring is over we wanted to share with you our editorial feature in the Spring issue of Bride and Bloom magazine. We love this publication because it is the epitome of style and inspiration.

We talked about the trends in the industry right now and I expressed my clients love for having a Gelato cart at their wedding reception.  It is a great way to share a childhood favorite with your wedding guests.

What we love most about the wedding magazine is the pull out source for the different flower types. You will get a complete guide of the types of flowers, when they are in season and an idea of what their costs are.

Of course we always love to see the designer challenges as well.

Make sure to grab a copy before they are off the newstands.

Cupcake Favors

Hey now, I am not referring to the traditional cupcake favors that can be placed in a box for your guests to enjoy later, nope not those. I just love these DIY cupcake favors I found on My Cakies Blog. Not only do these red velvet cupcakes look delish, but it is sure to leave your guests with the greatest impression that you have slaved in the kitchen for hours just to give them the perfect little treat to leave with.
